Last night as we were getting ready for Family Home evening, Oaklen pulled the For the Strength of You Pamphlet out of the book shelf. He was looking through it and enjoyed viewing the pictures of Christ.
It made me remember hearing a lady in Stake Conference a few weeks ago talk about her family using that pamphlet in family home evening. They would read one section from it each week. I wanted to start doing that with my family and I'm glad that Oaklen reminded me.
Now we do the following:
Sing a Song
Say a Prayer
Read from the For the Strength of Youth Pamphlet
Read a scripture
Give a lesson
Say a Prayer
Do an activity
Have a treat (sometimes)
Last night for the activity we played musical chairs. Darrell got out his guitar and the rest of us danced around two cushioned blocks, it was fun.

Reading from For the Strenght of Youth is a really good idea. It might be enough for a lesson around here. It's not always easy to keep everybody's attention for longs periods of time.
