The start of the garden

This is the garden from last year

The garden is in and I'm excited to see things grow this year. My friend Jodie and I team up to do the garden in my yard. Last year was our first time and I think it went rather well. We have used the square foot gardening method.

These are the things we have planted:
Tomatoes
Corn
Muskmelon
Zucchini
Banana Squash
Crookneck Squash
Pumpkin
Cucumber
Beets
Cauliflower
Carrots
Onions
Chives
Garlic
Cilantro
Oregano
Sage
Parsley
Calendula
Poppy
Carnation
Columbine
Alyssum

Everything sounds good except the beets. I don't know why, but I've never liked them. They're probably just about the only thing I can say I truly hate eating. I've tried to make myself, but I must have had a bad experience as a child that has scarred me for life.

Actually I'm not a beet fan either, my friend Jodie likes them so we planted them. We also decided that we'd mainly just use them for the beet greens. They're great for salads.
